Virtual roundtable to support youth work in Buckinghamshire

Are you interested in the immediate and long-term future of youth work in Buckinghamshire?

The pandemic has had a huge impact on the lives of young people in Buckinghamshire and highlighted the importance of youth work provision in supporting the needs of young people.

To help build a resilient youth sector providing high-quality support in the county, Community Impact Bucks will be hosting a virtual roundtable in partnership with Action4Youth and the Rothschild Foundation on 18th January 2022 (1-3pm).

Sharing the National Youth Agency’s Youth Work Principles,  attendees will gain a greater understanding of  how they can be used as a tool to produce quality programmes which facilitate the development of young people’s personal and social skills through appropriate youth work interventions. Youth organisations and practitioners will be invited to discuss real life examples of challenges facing the sector and quality work that is already happening with young people across Buckinghamshire.

The Youth Work Principles are central to the Rothschild Foundation’s new Strategic Fund for not-for-profit organisations in Buckinghamshire which support children and young people up to 25 years old.  The Strategic Fund aims to enhance the resilience of the local youth sector by increasing both the quality and quantity of support available to young people, and by investing in organisations so they can develop resources, training and programmes for all young people in our community, especially those who have faced challenging times.

What you will take away from the roundtable:

  • What is meant by Youth Work Principles and how they might be used by different individuals and groups
  • How Youth Work Principles are relevant in your context and how your organisation works with young people
  • Insight, discussion and debate about challenges and opportunities in Buckinghamshire’s youth sector
  • An awareness of how the Youth Work Principles fits into The Rothschild Foundation’s Strategic Fund and how to address an application
