Building Futures for the people of Buckinghamshire

10 May 2017

Community Impact Bucks (CIB) is delighted to announce that it is one of the leading partners of Building Futures, a local project focussed on changing the lives of disadvantaged adults and young people.

project logoThe project, part of the Building Better Opportunities programme and funded by the Big Lottery Fund and the European Social Fund, will work with people who have been out of work for   a long time and may feel they have few opportunities of returning to work.  Over the two-and-a-half year lifetime of the project, the aim is to support at least 400 people in Buckinghamshire back into employment, job seeking or education and training.

Building Futures will focus delivery in neighbourhoods with the highest levels of deprivation and social exclusion, as well as have an outreach service to more rural areas.  Its priority groups include those who are long-term unemployed, disengaged young people not in education, employment or training, black and minority ethnic groups and those with learning disabilities or long-term physical or mental health issues.

Nick Phillips, CIB chief executive explained the role of CIB in the project. “As the accredited Volunteer Centre in Buckinghamshire it is our role to help the partners use volunteering as a route back into employment.  We are the local experts in volunteering and I’m pleased that we can use this expertise to advise on how other organisations can find suitable roles, as well as what the charities and employing organisations might need to do to best support the people this project aims to help.  This is a vital project, locally designed for the needs of Buckinghamshire, and I’m delighted that we are able to play our part in making a difference.”

In addition, CIB will support partners in the project with a range of training as required. Nick is also establishing a group to help link the charities in the project with others who may benefit from support and identity the key priorities for the project.  The full list of partners is as follows:
