£000’s of funding for Bucks charities and community groups
On Wednesday 1 March over 20 different funding organisations will be at the Buckinghamshire Community Funding Fair at the Gateway Conference Centre in Aylesbury.

It is with a great deal of sadness we announce the passing of Ray Challinor who died last week. Ray gave his time generously to many charitable organisations and community groups. I have worked with Ray for the last 8 years and have been aware of his outstanding and tireless support for so many organisations that share one common aim – improving the lives of other people.

New pub lunch club set up to tackle social isolation in Bucks
Community Impact Bucks launched a new pub lunch club in Little Chalfont this week with thirty-one local residents attending. New clubs are also planned for Burnham and Aylesbury Old Town in the next few weeks bringing the total number of clubs to thirty-four across Buckinghamshire.

Making smart decisions: it’s about people and leadership
Tuesday 24th January saw over 60 trustees and leaders from Buckinghamshire charities and not-for-profit groups get together to discuss the challenges and benefits of being a trustee.

RAF High Wycombe – Community Lunch
RAF High Wycombe has partnered with Community Impact Bucks (CIB), the nationally accredited Volunteer Centre for Buckinghamshire, to provide local elderly residents with lunch at the Officers Mess at RAF High Wycombe.

Buckinghamshire small charities represented at 10 Downing Street
On 14 December 2016, Community Impact Bucks CEO Nick Phillips visited 10 Downing Street following an invitation by Secretary of State for Culture, Media & Sport, The Rt Hon Karen Bradley MP, and the Minister for Civil Society, Rob Wilson, to discuss the successes and challenges facing small charities. Alongside a number of leaders from other small charities and support organisations Nick was able to represent the growing small charity sector in Buckinghamshire.

Funding for churches
New grants are available to churches from the National Churches Trust and ChurchCare.

Tesco urgently seeking projects to support!
Funding for community projects is available from Bags of Help - Tesco’s local community grant scheme using the money raised from the 5p bag levy in Tesco stores. Tesco are urgently looking for community projects which they can support.

Localgiving are running their next #GiveMe5 campaigns on 29 November and 16 December 2016. The campaign encourages everyone to support a local charity and give something back to their communities.

Local Charities Day 16 December 2016
The first ever Local Charities Day is taking place on 16 December this year. The initiative, from the Office of Civil Society within the Department of Media, Culture and Sport, aims to raise awareness of small, local charities to make sure they get the recognition they deserve.

Charities, community and voluntary groups in Wycombe could benefit from grants from Wycombe District Council.

Rural communities warm to community buildings and DIY community transport schemes
Generally, the rural villages in Buckinghamshire are thriving communities but even so, with an aging population and limited transport, some people can become isolated. The village hall and local transport schemes can be a lifeline and Community Impact Bucks helps to support both vital aspects of village life.

Don't forget that the HR Service Desk at Bucks County Council can conduct DBS checks for volunteers on behalf of organisations.

Volunteer Hub project a great success – but what next?
The Volunteer Hub was a project which ran from January 2014 to September 2016 to support voluntary organisations and volunteers to make the most of the volunteer potential throughout Bucks in order to deliver Prevention Matters services. As planned, the service has now come to an end having supported over 300 groups whose beneficiaries are older and vulnerable adults.

Opportunities for Wycombe organisations to get on the airwaves
Wycombe Sound, a new community radio station based in High Wycombe has launched today. Filling the airwaves on 106.6 FM for those in the Wycombe area and streaming online for those further afield the station aims to keep people up to date with everything going on in and around Wycombe.

Trustees Week, 7-13 November 2016: Stronger charities through good leadership
The 7th annual Trustees Week runs from 7-13 November 2016 to celebrate the role of trustees and champion best practice in governance throughout the UK. The work of trustees is vital – they are the people in charge of a charity, volunteering their time and working alongside board members to make important decisions about the charity’s future.

Building the bridge – succeeding together
On Wednesday 28 September 2016 we welcomed over 150 people to our annual conference, ‘Building the bridge – succeeding together’ which aimed to show how charity and voluntary sector groups and businesses can work together profitably.
