The National Village Halls Forum says volunteers should not have to fundraise to pay VAT bills on improvement work to charity run community facilities. The Forum, which campaigns on behalf of 10,000 community buildings in rural England, is urging the Government to introduce tax breaks and support for volunteer trustees in the forthcoming budget.

Press Release - ACRE appoints interim chief executive
Leading rural network ACRE (Action with Communities in Rural England) has appointed Richard Quallington as interim chief executive, its board announced this week. Richard succeeds Janice Banks at the helm of the charity, which is the national voice for the ACRE Network of 38 rural community councils. He joins ACRE from Community First in Herefordshire & Worcestershire, a member of the ACRE Network, where he was chief executive.
Bucks County Council has launched the 'Active Bucks' project, which aspires to help all Bucks residents lead happier, healthier lives. The project will support more people to get more active, more often - with a particular focus on reducing the number of inactive people across the county.

Charity Commission announces changes to the annual return for charities
The Charity Commission has announced changes to the annual return, the tool it uses to hold charities accountable to the public. The regulator says the changes, which will apply when charities report on their financial years ending in 2015, will strengthen its ability to identify risk and will ensure people have access to the information they need to make confident decisions about charities.

LEADER Rural Grants: The Future
LEADER is an EU-funded delivery mechanism for rural business grants under the Rural Development Programme for England, using local knowledge and experience to promote funding and support for rural businesses and community projects. Each round of funding is delivered by a local executive team in conjunction with the guidance and direction of Local Action Groups consisting of volunteers who are actively involved in the rural economy and community.

Community Impact Bucks and Healthwatch Bucks are seeking your views on Transport experiences to Hospital and Doctor Appointments.
One of the issues that patients and visitors raise, on a regular basis, is difficulty travelling to hospital and doctor appointments. When changes were made to Buckinghamshire hospitals in 2012, additional services were introduced to improve transport to hospital. Public feedback indicates that there are still difficulties in travel to hospital and that certain parts of the county may have greater difficulty.

Doorstep Crime is the name given to an offence committed at the door, in the garden and via the post by conmen. Rogue traders, distraction burglary and scam mail are all forms of doorstep crime. The elderly and other vulnerable adults are faced with aggressive tactics and convincing stories by people posing as officials, tradesmen or as needing help, and who want to trick them into letting them into their homes to commit crimes.
