Developing Trustee Roles

Whether you have an urgent and unexpected trustee vacancy to fill, or are looking to bring new skills onto an existing board, our trustee recruitment support and resources will help.

*If you need information about recruiting/managing volunteers in response to the COVID-19 situation, you can find advice and guidance here.*

We recommend that you regularly look to refresh your trustee or committee boards, bringing in specialist skills when appropriate and planning ahead for trustees or committee members stepping down.

When you have decided what you are looking for, complete a role description for the position. You may find it helpful to refer to the DIY Committee Guide which includes useful FAQs on the role of management committee members and example role descriptions for a chairpersontreasurer and secretary.

If you need more detailed help with defining the roles, you can book a place on one of our free monthly advice surgeries for one-to-one advice as well as find lots of advice and tips on how to enhance your board through board diversity.
