NHS Long-Term Plan: reorganisation of health and social care

Published in January 2019, the NHS Long-Term Plan sets out how the NHS would transform over the next decade, including developing a new service model, taking more action on prevention and tackling health inequalities.

In Buckinghamshire, we are seeing a rapid reorganisation of health and social care which will continue in 2020, including a drive to more localised health and care in communities via the new Primary Care Networks.

These changes are significant for voluntary and community groups and social enterprises. In the Long-Term Plan there were 15 mentions of the VCSE sector as a partner, both in delivery, and having a strategic voice in the changes. Already, Social Prescribing Link Workers have been recruited in each Primary Care Network and will be connecting local people to community groups for practical and emotional support.

As things develop, Community Impact Bucks will work to keep our members informed and connected to those leading these changes.
