Small Charity Week – 18th-23rd June 2018
June sees the return of the annual Small Charity Week – a national awareness week aimed to publicise the invaluable work which small charities do as well as provide you with advice, training and a chance to engage with policy makers and influencers.
If you work for, or with, a small charity or local community organisation with a turnover of under £1.5 million, have a look at the week’s highlights listed below and follow the links to guarantee your place at one of the events.
A Week of Activities – Get Involved
Day 1: I ♥ Small Charities Day
The week kicks off with I ♥ Small Charities Day on Monday, 18th June, a day to promote the incredible work which small charities carry out in Bucks and across the UK. With three photo competitions – on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram – the aim is to raise the profile of small charities with the bonus opportunity of winning up to £450 for the winners. Day 2: Big Advice Day
As the name suggests, the day is made up of free 1:1 advice sessions on any charity related topic of your choice from experts across the sector, business leaders and funders. With events in London and four regional locations, booking is now closed but may reopen if unused expertise becomes available post matching. Click here for locations and registration details.
Day 3: Policy Day
This day gives small charities the chance to meet policy makers and influencers, encouraging the discussion of any issues affecting you in your local areas. With a range of events on offer – from a reception at Westminster, an international development roundtable and a number of regional events – find out more here and follow @SCWeek18 for news and updates.
Day 4 – Fundraising Day
Fundraising Day is the perfect opportunity for you to get your current and new supporters fundraising. Taking place on 21stJune, there are lots of free events, initiatives and competitions to link up with and help you raise vital funds for your small charity. These include:
- FSI Fundraising Conference – Sharing the Best 2018: grab the chance to access learning from experts on a range of different topics including building donor loyalty and future proofing your fundraising
- Win a year’s membership to Remember a Charity: win a year’s free membership and receive a number of benefits ranging from a high-profile national campaign promoting your charity and help with your legacy strategy
- Localgiving Small Charity Week Challenge: launching on Monday 18th June and running throughout the week, enter the competition to get the chance to win one of 25 financial prizes to support your online fundraising efforts

Day 5 – Big Impact Day
To celebrate the Foundation for Social Improvement’s (FSI) support of the small charity sector, the FSI Small Charity Big Impact Awards was launched last year and celebrate the impact of five small charities and community organisations. Applications to this year’s awards are now closed but look out for the winners to be announced on 22nd June 2018.
Day 6 – Celebration Day
Marking the end of Small Charity Week on the 23rd June , Celebration Day is a great excuse to shout about all your efforts to make the world a better place. For ideas and help to plan your own celebration day event, there’s a free toolkit available. Click here and get involved!

FSI fundraising workshop opportunity post Small Charity Week
FSI and CIB are also running a heavily subsidised training event in High Wycombe on 11th July offering small charities and community groups three workshops on key fundraising skills: Developing Your Case for Support, Demonstrating Your Impact and Developing Corporate Relationships.
