NCVO Members’ Assembly: South-East

We are working in partnership with NCVO by co-hosting the NCVO Members’ Assembly: South-East, a free online event for organisations in the south-east of England, on 25th May (9am-12pm).

This event is an opportunity to share your charity’s experiences and the challenges you are facing, as well as a chance to network with other voluntary organisations, share best practice and speak directly with NCVO staff. The free webinar, which is open to all not-for-profit organisations in the south-east, will consist of two key sessions:

1. The challenges facing charities and volunteers

Charities and volunteers are operating in an ever-changing political and social environment. In this session NCVO will discuss workforce and volunteering, finance and funding, law and regulation, and the relationship with government.

NCVO will draw from a range of sources including its own research and will discuss the current environment, changes on the horizon, and their impact on civil society.

By the end of the session, you will have:

  • an awareness of the external environment within which charities and volunteers are operating.
  • discussed how charities are adapting.
  • shared your experiences with your peers.
2. Engaging volunteers in 2023

As many organisations struggle to recruit and retain volunteers, we need to understand what drives volunteers and how we can make it easier for people to volunteer. In this session we will discuss the perceptions of volunteering and how to engage new volunteers.

We will be sharing our recent independent research into the needs and barriers faced by volunteers, people who don’t volunteer, and volunteer-involving organisations in Buckinghamshire.

By the end of the session, you will have:

  • gained insight into making volunteering more accessible.
  • shared your experiences and ideas about improving the volunteering experience.
